Behind the Artwork
Hi, Iām Monica
I predominantly use alcohol inks, acrylic, and resin in my artwork, but also have a love for watercolours, ink drawing, and experimenting with any art medium that I can get my hands on. My art includes a variety of pieces from hand painted earrings to large scale paintings, which means that it can be that added touch to bring something special to your outfit, or your living room.
My work encourages the practice of taking a step back and focusing on the aesthetically pleasing things around us. To allow the beautiful objects and moments to enter our hearts - to empower us, to calm us, and to nurture our internal selves. When our minds, heart, or body is surrounded by chaos, a conscious acknowledgement of something beautiful can feel like taking in the most fulfilling breath.
The things that I focus on to calm myself are the beautiful birds and landscapes of my backyard here in New Zealand, as well as the feeling of a brush, pen, or ink drop on a page.
When I'm not in the studio, I'm exploring our country with my partner, at the beach with my family, or even just strolling around my garden - always finding something to appreciate, and inspire my next painting.
