Original Artworks
of the great outdoors
You know what inspires me; It inspires you too.
The great outdoors. The wide open spaces that we get to call our own back yard here in Aotearoa, New Zealand. The birds. The bush. The mountains.
These artworks are created mostly in alcohol inks and acrylic paint (and often resin), but also less commonly featured are my watercolour works and pen drawings.
While I can get lost in painting the small details of an artwork; one thing that I absolutely love is striving to achieve the subtle textures within the “negative spaces”, like the light swirl in the sky or an out-of-focus forest backdrop. This is something that I do with alcohol inks - and why I love them so much. You will notice a lot of this textured negative space in my artworks. By the nature of it, it can not take me too long to paint (it dries verrrrry quickly), which makes it much more difficult to achieve than the fine brush details, but, I feel, brings a magical feeling to my artworks, which makes it absolutely worth it.
